The one and a half day Academy curriculum is designed to provide LGBT and LGBT friendly organizations, service providers and leaders with training, technical assistance and information that will serve the dual purposes of increasing participant organization’s Capacity-Building proficiency and Anti-Violence Programming knowledge and skill.

To serve the ends of building community capacity and expanding anti-violence response, past Academy curricula have focused on:

  • How program planning can help organizations successfully serve a greater constituency with more integrated programs.
  • What LGBT anti-violence work looks like today, and what issues face LGBT people regarding violence, including domestic and sexual violence, police misconduct and bias violence.
  • What a diverse and stable funding base can do for sustaining existing work and new programming.
  • What are ongoing and new challenges for those doing LGBT anti-violence work.
  • What are some of the resources available to organizations that want to address LGBT violence issues.
  • What are some of the models used by those who have started local and regional anti-violence organizations.
  • Special Needs for Community Centers, Statewides Advocacy Organizations and Others doing anti-violence work.
